Iberia Brings Budapest and Madrid Closer

  • Today the Spanish airline launches its new route between the Hungarian and the Spanish capitals.
  • Iberia will operate up to six flights per week on the route, offering more than 29,200 this year.
  • The route will provide a major boost in the connectivity of Budapest with Spain and Latin America.

Iberia today began services between Madrid and Budapest. Until 22 October the airline will fly up to six times per week between the Spanish and Hungarian capital cities, using A320-family aircraft with between 141 and 200 seats, including Business and Economy sections. Iberia will offer more than 29,200 seats on the route this year.
In Madrid, Iberia passengers form Hungary can connect to another 22 Spanish destinations, such as Majorca, Barcelona, and Malaga; to Lisbon and Oporto in Portugal, to the Angolan capital Luanda; and to numerous Latin American cities, including Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Montevideo, São Paulo, and Santiago, Chile.
Celia Muñoz, Iberia’s head of Sales for Europe and Africa commented: “We’re delighted to open the Budapest-Madrid route, which completes our network in central Europe. The Hungarian capital is a very popular destination among Spanish tourists, thanks to its history, its gastronomy and its cultural life. The new route also vastly improves Hungary’s connections with our other destinations in Spain and our Latin American network.”
According to Kam Jandu, Chief Commercial Officer, Budapest Airport adds: “I am so pleased that Spain’s national carrier has returned to the vital Madrid trunk route. We’re all really looking forward to working with Iberia this summer, a year that is already promising extensive further growth for us.”
To mark the occasion of the launch of the Budapest route, Iberia is offering customers in Hungary promotional fares to a number of its destinations starting at 35,900 HUF to Madrid, 48,500 HUF to Valencia or 56,900 HUF to Sao Paulo.
