British Airways is extending the option for customers in First, Club World (business class) and World Traveller Plus (premium economy) to pre-order their main meal to an additional five routes.

This complimentary pre-order service is now available from Heathrow to Beirut, Cairo, Baku, Tel Aviv and Amman, as well as on all long-haul flights. The airline has found that many people like to select their meal choice in advance of their flight.

This is the latest in a number of changes to catering offered on board British Airways flights.

In the last year the airline has also introduced the option for customers travelling in the World Traveller (economy cabin) to purchase one of six meals in advance as an alternative to the normal menu on board. The selection of ‘Gourmet Dining’, ‘Taste of Britain’, ‘Great British Breakfast’, ‘Healthy Choice’,  ‘Vegetarian Kitchen’ and ‘Taste of the East’ have all been designed to taste great at 30,000ft, combining current food trends and good quality ingredients to offer customers a real variety of options.

Both the pre-order option for First, Club World and World Traveller Plus customers, and the pre-paid choice for World Traveller customers can be booked via ba.com/managemybooking up to 24 hours in advance of travel.

Colin Talbot, British Airways’ head of catering, said: “We know how important food is to customers when they fly. It forms a significant part of the service and experience and we want to make sure our customers really enjoy the meals they’re served. These two options that we’ve introduced in the past year allow them to select their meals and look forward to their choice”.
