The independent airline Germania is responding to current market changes and is modifying its flight programme accordingly for the summer season 2018. For travellers seeking to sidestep the ongoing changes within the German aviation industry, Germania is expanding its existing range of travel options, as well as its presence at a number of busy airports.
The highlights of next year’s schedules and the most frequent destinations for the airline with the green and white aircraft include the Balearics, the Greek islands and the Canaries, followed by Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt.
“In the light of recent events, we have decided to expand our flight programme and operate additional flights next summer, which are already available for booking,” commented Karsten Balke, Germania’s CEO. “With its wide choice of warm-water and niche destinations, Germania is the ideal quality airline for all travellers and tour operators who are looking for a service they can rely on and a level of comfort that has become quite rare.”
Germania is the only holiday airline where all passengers can enjoy complimentary snacks, drinks and magazines onboard, and a free baggage allowance of 20kg.
The revised flight programme results in expanded route portfolios at key locations, such as Berlin. Due to increased demand from tour operators, Germania will not only operate flights from Berlin-Schönefeld, but also from Berlin-Tegel. In addition to flying to the Canaries and several Greek islands, in 2018 Germania will operate new services from the German capital to Palma de Mallorca.
Germania’s aircraft will also be taking off more frequently from Dusseldorf, from where the number of flights to the Greek islands has increased to offer travellers a choice of seven destinations. The Dusseldorf schedule also offers flights to the Canary Islands. And for the first time, Germania is operating flights from Dusseldorf to two destinations in Portugal – Faro and the Azores.
In Nuremberg, the volume of Germania’s flights to Palma de Mallorca has been doubled, and the frequency of flights to numerous destinations that were announced earlier this year is being increased. In Zurich, already-planned services will receive another significant boost with the new destinations of Ibiza, Samos and the Canaries.
The moves illustrate Germania’s strengthening of its overall market position as a holiday airline. In summer 2018 its fleet will be taking off from nine German airports to the Spanish island of Mallorca. The summer base at Palma de Mallorca that only opened in May 2017 will be maintained and will be used not only during peak season but also increasingly during the low season, including the months of March and November.

Dusseldorf: Germania Offers More Flights to the Canary Islands, Greece and Portugal
The independent airline Germania is offering more tourist destinations from Dusseldorf in summer 2018. Due to current market changes, the airline with the green and white aircraft has revised its flight programme and is now operating more frequent flights to the Canary Islands, Greece and Portugal.
The new destinations include the Greek islands of Crete, Karpathos, Kos, Lesbos, Rhodes and Zakynthos. Additionally, the number of connections to the island of Samos is being increased to two per week. In 2018, Germania will also fly to the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma and Tenerife. Brand new to the airline’s schedule are the Portuguese destinations Faro on the Atlantic coast and Ponta Delgada at the Azores.
The island of Cyprus with its fishing town of Paphos remains a fixture in Germania’s programme with two weekly flights. Four flights a week take off for Tel Aviv, and the Airbus 321 with 215 seats on board is even used here. An insider tip for many travellers is Beirut, which can be reached non-stop from Dusseldorf with Germania twice a week. The flights to the Iraqi cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah will also be operated in 2018.
Bucking the trend and to meet demand from the Turkish community in Germany, Germania offers an extensive choice of flights to Turkey. The destination airports include Edremit, Alanya/Gazipasa, Hatay and Zonguldak. A new addition is Kütahya/Zafer, and the flights to Malatya are being increased.

Germania Expands its Flight Programme in Berlin
In the light of current market changes, Germania is increasing its commitment to the German capital. Next summer the airline’s green and white aircraft will be taking off not only from Berlin-Schönefeld, but also from Berlin-Tegel. In doing so, Germania is responding to enquiries from various tour operators and expanding its offering significantly by basing aircraft at Berlin-Tegel airport. The first increase in volume is due to take place for the coming winter schedule.
Travellers from Berlin can choose from a wide range of flights to the Canary Islands. Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote or Gran Canaria – the airline operates flights to all of these destinations. Furthermore, Germania flies to various Greek islands, including Crete, Corfu, Kos and Rhodes. As before, there will be flights to Ibiza next summer as well as a new route from Berlin-Tegel to Palma de Mallorca.
With flights to the Egyptian destinations of Hurghada and Marsa Alam, Germania takes holidaymakers to popular snorkelling and diving paradise. The flight programme also features Faro on Portugal’s Atlantic coast and Funchal on Madeira for the first time. Germania will continue to operate its established routes to Burgas in Bulgaria, Tehran in Iran, Beirut in Lebanon, Paphos in Cyprus and Bodrum in Turkey. Antalya will be the latest addition to the flight programme 2018.

Nuremberg: Germania Doubles its Mallorca Flights in Summer 2018
Germania Airlines will double the number of flights it operates between Nuremberg and Palma de Mallorca as of summer 2018. The carrier with the green and white aeroplanes will increase frequencies from one to two daily non-stop flights. Even more flights will be available to the sunny island on weekends during the high season. The increase follows recent market changes that Germania is leveraging to strengthen its holiday flight market share.
In addition to offering direct flights to Athens, Samos, Rhodes, Crete and Kos, Germania will also be adding Thessaloniki and Corfu to its list of destinations in Greece. From Athens, additional connections to selected Greek islands are also available through Germania’s partner, Sky Express.
Other holiday destinations include Hurghada and Marsa Alam in Egypt, the Portuguese destinations Faro and Funchal in Madeira, Ibiza as well as the Canary Islands. In addition, Germania flies to Paphos in Cyprus as well as to Burgas and Varna in Bulgaria. As of May 2018, Germania will also fly four times a week to the Turkish city of Antalya.
