Leading regional airline refreshes on-board menu with healthy summer snacking

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, is pleased to welcome on board popular nationwide Asian-inspired food brand, itsu, whose healthy snacks will feature on Café Flybe’s new in-flight menu with immediate effect. Also new to the on-board range will be a selection of other refreshments, such as a breakfast snack box, an expanded range of hot beverages, soft bake cookies, and a range of hand-picked premium gins which feature within the Café Flybe Connoisseurs Gin Bar.

The itsu range launching on Flybe includes:

  • itsu vegetable festival noodles: authentic Asian instant noodles with a vegetable broth made with paste not powder for a richer flavour & fuller texture
  • itsu sweet chilli prawn crackers – the first flavoured prawn crackers on the market & less than 97 calories per pack
  • itsu chocolate edamame – soy beans covered in dark chocolate, a great source of protein & fibre
  • itsu milk chocolate covered rice cakes made from wholegrain & white rice, coated in top quality chocolate

Flybe Chief Revenue Officer, Vincent Hodder comments:

Our aim is to provide our customers with as much all-round choice as possible, and our selection of on-board refreshments is no exception.  This is why we are marking the start of our new 2017 Summer schedule with a refreshed Café Flybe menu and so are particularly pleased to welcome such a renowned – and healthy – brand as itsu on board for the first time.

Founded by food entrepreneur Julian Metcalfe, itsu shops have paved the way for Asian inspired food that is widely distributed in supermarkets, online and now, for the first time, into on-board hospitality.

Head of itsu Wholesale Charlie Knight, adds: ‘It’s fantastic to be working with Flybe. We can really see a place for our healthy, innovative and tasty products within the airline sector. It is great that Flybe has seen this opportunity. We are looking forward to their customers enjoying our itsu snacks in the air for the first time!’
