Finnair has won two prestigious awards in China; one for Best Business Class at the Best Travel Awards 2016 event by China´s Tourism industry and another for the Best Inflight Catering Airline at the 2016 World Traveller Awards. China is the world’s largest market for outbound tourism, and one of Finnair’s strategic markets.

Best business class by Best Travel Awards Held annually by tourism media for the past eleven years, the Best Travel Awards aim at recognizing tourism-related enterprises and organizations which make significant contributions to China’s tourism industry. This year, Finnair’s business class was named as the best.

We are very proud of this special recognition given to us by tourism media in China. The award proves that our commitment to the Chinese market is strong and based on reliability, genuineness and Nordic style,” says Robert Örhnberg, General Manager for Greater China at Finnair. “We will continue to perfect our service to provide an even more pleasant flight experience for our customers.”

Offering a gateway between China and Europe with a network of over 70 European destinations, Finnair currently flies six direct routes in Greater China.

Finnair is the only carrier operating the Airbus A350 XWB in mainland China, and uses the new aircraft on its Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong routes. The new aircraft offers unparalleled passenger comfort due to a spacious cabin with award-winning Nordic design, lower noise levels, fresher air, on-board Wi-Fi and a top of the range IFE system. In addition, Wi-Fi connectivity will be available on Finnair’s entire wide-body fleet as of May 2017.

Best Inflight Catering Airline by World Traveller Awards 2016 World Traveller Awards is an annual ceremony held by World Traveller media in China. Finnair was recognized for the best inflight catering for 2016. Since 2013, Finnair has collaborated with top chefs to offer Signature Menus for its long-haul business class customers. This year, Finnair’s business class customers have enjoyed world-class meals created by famous chefs Steven Liu from China, Sasu Laukkonen from Finland and Jaakko Sorsa based out of Hong Kong. In 2017, Finnair will be collaborating with Eero Vottonen, Finland’s candidate for the 2017 Bocuse d’Or competition. Last April, Finnair started serving Finnish organic ice cream by Jymy in business class for all its intercontinental flights departing from Helsinki.

“The importance of high-quality meals for the overall passenger experience cannot be overstated,” says Maarit Keränen, Head of Inflight Service at Finnair. “When cooperating with top chefs, we always stay true to our principles of quality, creativity and freshness and work hard to provide delicious meals for passengers.”
