Eurowings flies to Austria. The first aircraft of Austrian Eurowings Europe took off on its initial flight to Alicante today, Thursday 23 June. The passengers on the almost fully-booked flight to Alicante were looked after by the newly recruited and trained Eurowings Europe crew. Previously, all Eurowings aircraft based in Vienna were operated by its German affiliate Eurowings Germany.

The airline’s first aircraft based in Vienna Schwechat is a brand-new Airbus A320 with the registration OE-IEW. In future, the aircraft will serve all direct flights from Vienna offered by Eurowings Europe. From the end of June 2016, Airbus A320 will head directly from Vienna to the following destinations: Alicante, Bastia, Rome, Hanover, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia and London Stansted, with ticket prices starting from €29.99.

At the end of July and October, two further Airbus A320’s will be stationed in Vienna and commence service. By late October, Eurowings Europe will be offering 15 destinations from its Vienna location, including other new landing stops such as Fuerteventura, Pisa and Jerez de la Frontera.

Robert Jahn, Managing Director of Eurowings Europe, said, “Eurowings Europe is currently one of the largest enterprises started in Austria and has created a large number of jobs. The Vienna-based airline company has now recruited 150 employees.” Co-Managing Director Dieter Watzak-Helmer said, “We’re receiving great support from our local partners and our sister company Austrian Airlines. As a result, flying is really fun.”

In total, Eurowings Europe will have carried around a million passengers in its first year of operation.
