easyJet is expanding its network from Berlin-Schönefeld with four more destinations. The British low-cost airline now flies to Zurich (Switzerland), Marseille (France), Newcastle (United Kingdom) and La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain). The Zurich route now features six times a week in the airlines flight plan (daily except Saturdays). Flights depart for Marseille and Newcastle three times a week. Flights leave on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. La Palma, in the Canary Islands, is served twice a week from Schönefeld. Flights leave on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This winter, the British airline with its well-known white and orange livery will fly from Berlin-Schönefeld to a total of 38 destinations.

Thanks to the expansion of our fleet in Berlin, we will be offering four new destinations once our winter flight plan begins. By stationing our 11th aircraft at Schönefeld, we can extend our programme here in the capital. This also has advantages for the area: the number of our employees based in Berlin is being increased by 36 to 465 staff members, all with German employment contracts”, says Thomas Haagensen, CEO of easyJet Deutschland. Overall, easyJet will grow by 15 % at Schönefeld within the first half of 2017 compared with the previous year. This corresponds to 360,000 additional passengers.

We welcome easyJet’s continued engagement at Schönefeld. The four new European destinations will make an important contribution to our attractive winter flight plan from Berlin”, says Dr. Karsten Mühlenfeld, Chairman of the Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “The airline only announced the renewed expansion of its Berlin base at the start of October. Stationing the eleventh aircraft at Schönefeld is a significant milestone in the expansion of easyJet’s route network from Berlin. We wish great flying, always.”

La Palma – La Isla Bonita
Originally wild and with limited development for tourists, the locals call the most north-western of the Canary Islands La Isla Bonita (the beautiful island). In 2002, UNESCO declared it a World Biosphere Preserve. High mountains, dramatic volcanoes, luscious vegetation, steep coastlines, breathtaking views over the sea, unspoilt beaches, isolated bays and crystal clear night skies make La Palma the ideal holiday destination, far removed from mass tourism.

Marseille – the gateway to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region
The most important port city in France, the oldest city in the country, melting pot of cultures, the gateway to the Orient, metropolis on the Mediterranean, city of 111 villages and 2013 cultural capital of Europe: located in southern France, Marseille is a city of many faces. The atmosphere is characterised by cultural diversity. The city’s most important sights include Port Vieux (the old harbour), the fish market, the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, numerous museums and the artists’ quarter. Marseille is both the capital and gateway to the much loved holiday region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

Newcastle upon Tyne – city of seven bridges
The city in northern England is a modern business and cultural metropolis, vibrant student city and party capital all at the same time. Newcastle’s wealth stems from its role in the coal industry. The city’s symbol is the River Tyne, which is spanned by seven impressive bridges. Everyone is an architectural masterpiece and symbolises a unique period in history. Newcastle is literally surrounded by nature. Scotland is just a stone’s throw away. The northern part of Great Britain can be reached from Newcastle in just one and a half hours, by car or by train. The same goes for the many wonderful national parks that surround the city.

Zurich – the small cosmopolitan city with a high standard of living
Switzerland’s largest city is also its most important centre of business, finance, media, culture and education and one of its most important travel hubs as well. The city is characterised by its high quality of life. Its location on the shores of idyllic Lake Zurich, the well-preserved and easy to explore Old Town, numerous sights and monuments, promenades and parks, diverse social and cultural events as well as the exciting nightlife all make Zurich a favourite city for tourists.
