Traffic results for July 2016: Austrian Airlines reports 5.9% increase in passenger volume

Austrian Airlines transported more than 1.2 million passengers in the month of July 2016. This comprises a rise of 5.9 percent from the previous year. The flight offering in available seat kilometers (ASK) was increased by 6.7 percent to almost 2.5 billion. Austrian Airlines sold more than 2.1 billion revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) in July 2016, an increase of 6.8 percent from the prior-year level. Capacity utilization of the flights (passenger load factor) was at an average of 85.5 percent, a slight increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to July 2015. The number of flights in July 2016 rose by 5.4 percent to a total of 12,536 flights. This is mainly due to the expanded bilateral flight traffic between Austria and Germany.

On an accumulated basis, the red-white-red carrier succeeded in increasing passenger volume from January to July 2016: On balance, Austrian Airlines transported almost 6.3 million passengers, an increase of 2.9 percent from the prior-year period. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) climbed by 4.3 percent to almost 13.9 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) sold by Austrian Airlines in the first seven months of 2016 rose 2.2 percent from the previous year to more than 10.4 billion. Capacity utilization fell slightly by 1.5 percentage points to 75.3 percent.
