For the 2016 summer season (from 27 March 2016 to 29 October 2016), the Group’s total capacity will increase (+1.5%) compared with the previous summer season*. This growth is mainly driven by Transavia’s low-cost flights operated on departure from France, the Netherlands and Munich (+14.8%). As for long-haul (+0.1%) and medium-haul activity (+0.7%), while moderating its growth, the Group is redeploying capacity to more buoyant sectors.

This season, we are developing our global network to win over new markets, particularly in Europe where we are demonstrating the Group’s agility and ability to capture numerous growth drivers. Air France-KLM is offering its customers over 50 new routes worldwide with our four companies. This dynamic management of our flight offering is supported by a modern fleet, equipped with ever more comfortable travel cabins, reflecting the highest industry standards” stated Alexandre de Juniac, Chairman and CEO of the Air France-KLM Group.

Finally, the Group is strengthening its partnership with the Canadian airline WestJet thanks to new code-share agreements in the region with the subsidiary WestJet Encore.

Central and South America and the Caribbean:

In Brazil, the Group is improving its connecting network through its partnership with GOL offering easier access to the Brazilian domestic market. Moreover, in line with market demand, Air France is reducing capacity to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

In the Caribbean, the Group is offering additional frequencies to Havana (Cuba), with up to 10 weekly flights for Air France and 5 weekly flights operated by larger-capacity aircraft for KLM. Asia:

In South-East Asia, the Group is reducing its exposure to the market. In continuation of the winter season, Air France is suspending service to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). The leg operated to Jakarta (Indonesia) as a continuation of the Singapore service is suspended as from end-March 2016. In continuation of the winter season, in order to adjust its network to market developments in East Africa, KLM is optimizing its network in the region – the number of circular flights serving Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Kigali (Rwanda) and Entebbe (Uganda) is increasing, allowing KLM to continue to offer significant capacity to the region, while reducing its exposure with fewer direct flights. The vast partnership with Kenya Airways beyond Nairobi also allows KLM to serve even more destinations in the region.
