KLM Royal Dutch Airlines today acceded to the enhanced cooperation between Air France and China Eastern Airlines. KLM and China Eastern Airlines will offer codeshare flights on the Amsterdam-Shanghai route. Passengers will also gain access to three new destinations in addition to the existing 12 codeshare destinations.

China Eastern Airlines’ first flight from Shanghai landed at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Sunday June 26th. China Eastern Airlines will operate four roundtrips a week between Shanghai and Schiphol from this day.

The start of China Eastern operations in Amsterdam on Sunday, 26 June, makes KLM’s Schiphol hub the only SkyTeam hub outside Asia to be used by all four Greater China airlines. This underscores the importance of this partnership and the new enhanced cooperation. The cooperation on the Amsterdam-Shanghai route marks the next step in KLM’s partnership with China Eastern and solidifies KLM’s China Strategy, which aims to make Amsterdam the key gateway between Europe and China
