Aeroflot in June will launch a link between Moscow and Lyon, after sixteen years of absence. And it will open at the same time flights to Alicante in Spain.

From 3 June 2016, the Russian national airline will offer three flights a week between its base in Moscow-Sheremetyevo and Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, operated by Airbus A320 that can accommodate 20 passengers in Business Class and 120 in Economy. Departures are scheduled Monday, Friday and Sunday at 10:25 to arrive at 13:15, return flights leaving France at 14:25 to land at 19:05. Aeroflot will have no direct competition on this route, until now proposed in codesharing with Air France via Paris-CDG, its first French destination.

The SkyTeam airline and Lyon Airport have still not officially communicated on this route, while the Aeroflot booking website this morning shows for example that many business class seats are already booked on the flight of June 11 from Moscow. This route was served by Transaero until its bankruptcy last fall, while Aeroflot is already flying to Geneva.

Aeroflot will also launch a daily flight between Moscow and Alicante-Elche on June 1, a Boeing 737-800 (20C + 138Y) taking off from Sheremetyevo at 11:15 (arrival at 15:10) and leaving Spain at 16:20 (arrival at 22:05). S7 Airlines, VIM Airlines and low cost Vueling are already busy on this route. The airports of Madrid, Barcelona, ??Malaga and Tenerife are also in the Aeroflot flight programme.
