Moscow, 11 April 2017 — Aeroflot has been recognised as the Favourite International Airline in China at the Flyer Award Ceremony 2017, held on 11 April in Shanghai.

These prestigious awards, now in their fifth year, recognise outstanding participants in China’s tourism market, including airlines which hold Skytrax Five Star Airline status. Qatar Airways, known for its luxury service, won Flyer’s Favourite Airline in China award in 2015 and 2016.

The awards are supported by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) inflight magazine, China’s state news agency Xinhua, and leading sector publication China Aviation Magazine.
The winners are selected by the organisers and by votes from frequent flyers and travellers.
The organisers felt that Aeroflot deserved the Flyer Award Ceremony’s recognition based on service quality, affordable ticket prices, and convenient connecting flights from its hub airport of Sheremetyevo, which is involved in the China Friendly initiative.

Given the strategic prospects for further Russia-China cooperation, Aeroflot is increasingly focused on the extensive Chinese market. It has developed a host of initiatives to appeal to Chinese passengers. Aeroflot’s convenient routes encompass four key locations in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Aeroflot has also launched a Chinese-language version of its website, and significant changes have been made to in-flight service. Passengers receive menus in Chinese, and those flying business-class have the opportunity to enjoy an Asian set menu featuring a selection of national cuisines. The in-flight entertainment systems offer Chinese programmes, and announcements are also made in Chinese on flights to and from China.

“This recognition of Aeroflot as the Favourite International Airline in China is a significant achievement for us as a global carrier,” Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev said. “Not only is it a great honour to receive this award, it is further testimony that our strategic efforts in the world’s most important market are having an impact, and of the highly competitive service we offer.

“It also indicates we should further strengthen Aeroflot’s position in China, both by attracting tourist flows and by expanding our transit offerings between Europe and Asia via Moscow. Aeroflot is proud to make a significant contribution to the development of economic relations between Russia and China, which are so vital for our country.”
